![]() Dairy Industry Productivity Program
Summary The Dairy Industry Productivity program provides rebates to fund energy efficiency and/or productivity improvements undertaken by dairy businesses and dairy farms located within the service territory of Niagara Mohawk, a National Grid company. Minimum Program Requirements: Please review the following program requirements and guidelines, carefully. They will help you decide whether you want to apply for this program. To be eligible for this program, the applicant must: q Be a dairy farmer and/or a milk processing business in
the Niagara Mohawk service territory To be eligible for this program, the facility (business or farm) must: q Receive electric or natural gas service from Niagara Mohawk, and q Be undertaking an energy efficiency project through the New York Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) or other public agency or program. q Demonstrate the new energy efficiency project was initiated on or after November1, 2003.
Funding and Eligibility Guidelines:Program funding and parameters are established annually by Niagara Mohawk. Grants are available on a continual basis until all funding is expended or until December 31, 2004. Funding is released to a grant award recipient only after the recipient has met all conditions of the program as indicated in the program application and supporting material. The grant award recipient should expect to execute a Funding Agreement with Niagara Mohawk. Agreement will outline the expectations of the grant and the conditions upon which funds will be released. In all circumstances, funding should be viewed by the applicant as a reimbursement for work completed. Under no circumstances may the benefits of the program be reassigned to an individual or a project other than those indicated in the approved application, nor may any of the funds granted be used for a purpose other than that stated in the application. q Funding is in the form of grants to eligible customers for the installation of new equipment that will improve productivity and/or profitability, including but not limited to the following: · Energy efficiency lighting, ballasts, fixtures and lighting controls · A-C Energy Efficient Motors and electronic speed control devices · Ventilation fans driven by AC Motors · Centrifugal pumps driven by AC Motors · Process equipment driven by AC Motors and controls In addition, the project costs can include the costs associated with renovating/retrofitting customer distribution systems (i.e. building wiring/grounding). q Program funds will be provided after funding from NYSERDA or other program resources has been secured. q Applicant must document its contribution of matching funds to equal 25% of the total project costs. q Maximum grant per project is $5,000. The grant amount may not represent more than 75% of the total cost of the energy efficiency improvements funded by NYSERDA or other funding sources.
