Reason 1. Other dairy manufacturers are located here.
Jefferson County is home to the Great Lakes Cheese Company’s Adams, NY Plant. In 2007 they built a new $80 million plant here manufacturing naturally aged cheddar cheese. H.P. Hood owns the Crowley Foods Plant in LaFargeville NY manufacturing cottage cheese and sour cream. Next door in Lewis County you’ll find the largest manufacturer of Cream Cheese at the Kraft Foods Plant. Within 100 miles of Watertown there are at least 5 other major dairy manufacturing operations.
Reason 2. A Great milk supply!
Within a 100 mile radius of Jefferson County, NY:
2,483 Dairy Farms
275,800 Dairy Cows
Producing 5.9 Billion pounds of milk
According to a recent study by Cornell University; our five counties of northern New York have more than enough milk to supply our current dairy manufacturers and support another 4 million pounds per day plant. Northern New York Dairy Farms have experienced better than average growth in milk production and better than average improvement in milk production per cow.

We have a brand new 80 acre industrial park offering municipal water supply, 3 phase electricity supply, natural gas, municipal sewer system, and a developer willing to help build and make equity investments, that fit their profile, in projects. The Industrial Park is directly adjacent to Interstate 81 and will be directly connected to the CSX main rail line that travels from Montreal Canada to Syracuse NY.
