Dairyland Festival and Parade
Jefferson County Dairyland Festival and Parade
As the World “Churns” – Celebrating World Milk Day!
June is dairy month and Jefferson County kicks off the celebration with its annual Dairyland Festival and Parade! Schools, the public, everyone is invited to enjoy the celebration of Jefferson County’s largest agricultural sector, our dairy industry! June 1, 2018 is also World Milk Day so we are joining millions across the Earth celebrating our favorite beverage, milk!
The Festival – The celebration kicks off on Friday June 1, 2018 at 9am with the opening of the dairyland festival at the Dulles State Office Building in Watertown on Washington Street in Watertown. The festival is geared for children ages pre-school through sixth grade. There is no charge to attend!
The festival includes interactive exhibits, displays, and demonstrations related to our dairy industry and agriculture. Classes are invited to attend at no charge. Teachers should plan 90 – 120 minutes to visit. Classes must begin the registration process before May 4 by registering here. Lisa Porter will contact you to provide your assigned arrival time and give you your registration pass. If you have questions about the festival, please email Lisa Porter.
Pre-school classes are encouraged to attend the festival early during the event so that they avoid having the larger older students to see over. Students are welcome to bring and eat their lunches in our dairyland café. Teachers and chaperones are invited to purchase their lunch in the café where we will have a variety of food options and drinks.
The Parade – The second part of the exciting celebration is the Dairy Parade which kicks off at 7pm! The parade lines up at the Watertown High School and proceeds down Washington Street where it ends at the Dulles State Office Building. The judging is directly in front of the State Office Building where our Master of Ceremonies provides live narration of the entire parade. The parade is full of exciting and fun entries including marching bands, HUGE farm equipment, fire trucks, live animals, floats, youth groups, and businesses.
If you want to enter the parade, please use our registration form and submit it by May 21, 2018.
Giant Ice Cream Sundae – At 8pm, the Jefferson County Dairy Princess and her court will dish out free ice cream sundaes in the Dulles State Office Building for everyone as long as supplies last.
